Dear Email Friends,
You won't want to miss this gem of a play by the well-known American playwright A.R. Gurney. It is funny, touching and anyone who has ever had a dog or cat will really enjoy this look at a man's tendency to view his dog, Sylvia, as a person to the dismay of his neglected wife.
Tom (Michael Garland) warns Greg (James Walmsley) not to think of his female dog as a person because it could cause problems in his marriage.
Greg finds that he becomes jealous when Sylvia (Gabrielle Meadows) pays more attention to the male dogs in the park than to him.
Greg tells Sylvia that because of tension between him and his wife he will have to give her away to a family in the suburbs.
Greg goes to a marriage counsellor (Michael Garland) who advises him to realize that Sylvia is just a dog and to pay more attention to his wife. When Greg suggests that the counselor spend some time with Sylvia to fully understand the situation, he is told to get out.
